General Questions Where is the Nature Sports Center located? The Nature Sports Center is located in the immediate vicinity of the Pihkala café. Access is either through the main door of Pihkala or through the door of the Nature Sports Center on the left. After the doors, turn left and soon you will be there.
Where can I book equipment? You can make reservations through our online store, or on-site at the Nature Sports Center, as well as from other service points.
Do I need to know anything about the equipment in advance? No, you don't need to. All equipment and route instructions are provided at the time of equipment handover. Is it possible to buy guided tours? With all our rental equipment, it is possible to take guided tours. On these, please contact our sales service at 0300 870870 (call price 0.49 €/min incl. VAT 25,5%). Can I service my own bike at the Nature Sports Center? We offer light maintenance for bikes, which includes inspections, tightening, adjustments, and lubrication. We do not sell spare parts, so part replacements are not included in the service.
E-fatbike What brand are the rental bikes? The available bikes are Tunturi E-max ME EP8 models. What sizes are the bikes? There are frame sizes S / 15” (approx. 145-165 cm cyclist) M / 17” (approx. 160-180cm cyclist) and L / 19” (approx. 170-195 cm cyclist) for E-fatbikes. Cyclist heights are indicative; you can always come on site to test which bike size might be best for you. Why does my reservation show an extra hour? E-fatbike reservations have a one-hour maintenance/charging break, which for technical reasons, also appears in your reservation. What if my bike breaks down? The customer is responsible for the rented equipment and commits to handling the bike according to given instructions. However, wear and tear is possible in normal use and the customer will not be charged for this. Instructions are provided at the time of rental on what to do if the bike breaks down. How do bikes perform in the dark? We have good lights for the bikes, both front and rear. In winter conditions, the snow along the route also reflects light very well, which enhances the power of the bike lights. What should I consider in winter? Warm clothing, especially warm gloves and shoes, are recommended. Toes and fingers are largely stationary and can easily freeze in cold weather.
Trek Mountain Bikes What brand are the rental bikes? The available bikes are Trek Roscoe 7 models. What sizes are the bikes? There are frame sizes S / 15.5”, M / 17.5”, M/L / 18.5”, L / 19.5” and XL / 21.5” for mountain bikes. Additionally, there are two smaller children's size mountain bikes. We recommend coming on site to test which size fits you best. What if my bike breaks down? The customer is responsible for the rented equipment and commits to handling the bike according to given instructions. However, wear and tear is possible in normal use and the customer will not be charged for this. Instructions are provided at the time of rental on what to do if the bike breaks down.

SUP Boards / Indian Canoes Where can I rent paddling equipment? The boards and canoes are located on the shores of Valkjärvi. During the hottest times of summer, there is a patrol on the beach and equipment can be rented from there. At other times, renting takes place through the Nature Sports Center. Can more than one person travel on a board or canoe at the same time? An adult and a child can travel on the same SUP board. Canoes are big enough that it's easier for two to go on one canoe. In total, there are places for three paddlers in a canoe.

Snowshoes / Gliding Snowshoes What is a gliding snowshoe? A gliding snowshoe resembles a ski in appearance, but in terms of features, it is an intermediate between a snowshoe and a forest ski. Moving with gliding snowshoes is typically a mix of walking and skiing. The grip fabric on the bottom helps with climbing uphill and lightly brakes when descending. Where should I go with snowshoes / gliding snowshoes? Our website has a page “Snowshoeing and gliding snowshoeing” with great tips on the best terrains. The Nature Sports Center provides the best tips for routes. What kind of shoes fit the bindings of snowshoes / gliding snowshoes? Both have bindings that can attach nearly any shoe. We recommend a regular hiking boot with a shaft. Equipment can be tested at the Nature Sports Center before booking.
Hiking Trails and Campfire Sites Is there a phone app-based map service available? All our marked trails are available in the Outdooractive application. How do I get information about the trails? The most up-to-date information and best tips are available from the Nature Sports Center. Trails and maps can be found in the Outdooractive application, as well as on our website under “Hiking Trails and Maps”. How are the campfire sites used in winter? All our campfire sites are also available in winter. There is walking access to the Lemmenharju campfire site, access to the Kalattomanlammi shelter via the winter bike trail, and access to the Sydänlampi hut/shelter via marked trails for snowshoes or walking. Skiing is the only way to access the Sydänlampi hut/shelter."
We deliver items left and found in the area to Lost & Found Finland Vantaa, address Porttikaari 7. You can inquire at the number 0600 41006 Lost and found items will be sent to Vantaa every two weeks. Vierumäki is not responsible for goods left in the area.
Pets are welcome at Vierumäki and in several of our accommodation facilities. Pet rooms and cottages can be booked from our customer service at 0300 870 870 At Jatkoaika Bar and all our terraces, we welcome everyone – wagging tails included. Only our indoor restaurants and cafés are off-limits for four-legged guests. Sorry, pups!

The designated caravan parking area is located next to the Country Club, offering a tranquil setting close to services. The area features approximately 20 parking spaces with electricity, and it is included in Vierumäki’s security and surveillance system.
Upon arrival, please drive via the reception, where the parking fee of €40 per night is paid. Reception address Pihkalantie 3, 19120 Vierumäki. At the reception you will receive a permit, which must be displayed clearly on your vehicle’s windshield throughout your stay, as well as a key to the facilities reserved for caravanners, located in the Huominsiipi wing of the Country Club building. Parking spaces cannot be reserved in advance.
The parking fee includes the use of electricity at the marked parking spaces and access to shared indoor facilities for caravanners. These facilities include comfortable lounge areas, a kitchenette (kettle, microwave oven and refrigerators), tables and chairs, as well as toilet, shower and sauna facilities. The facilities are open daily but are closed during the night from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Vierumäki does not operate as a campsite. Please note that there are no facilities for grey water or chemical toilet emptying, and there are no dedicated waste disposal points for motorhomes or caravans on site.

The sports equipment store Sportshop Vierumäkiis located in the Tennis and Padel Hall. Rental tennis and padel rackets as well as table tennis rackets. In winter times skis and skates can be rented from Sportshop.
Our Outdoor Center rents bikes, snowshoes, sliding snowshoes, sticks and slides, as well as Frisbee golf discs. In summer times rental canoes and sup-boards.
The nearest shops are located in Heinola and Vierumäki village. A small selection of groceries, soft drinks and food are sold in Green's café in the Tennis and padel hall. Cafe Pihkala has snacks and sweets and small selection of toiletries. Sportshop Vierumäki is located in the Tennis and Padel Hall. Sportshop offers a versatile selection of textiles, footwear, accessories and equipment for several exercise and sports. In the summer, the Golf Shop is open in the Golf Pavilion next to the Cooke golf course. There is an R-Kioski in the lobby of the Holiday Club hotel. The nearest pharmacies are located in the center of Heinola.
The residents of Hotel Fennada have free use of five electric car charging points (Type 2 and power 11.4kW).
Free WiFi is available in Vierumäki's public spaces and hotel rooms. The Guest network does not require a password. Vierumäki is not responsible for traffic in the customer network.
