Vierumäki Eco Compass
The Eco Compass certificate was granted to us in May 2024
Geopark is a unified geographical area featuring internationally important geological sites. It provides information on the origins of the landscape and terrain and promotes the attractions, products and services of the area. Fostering the natural and cultural heritage of the area, strengthening local identity and promoting sustainable development are key objectives of geoparks.
Vierumäki co-operates with Salpausselkä Geopark. In Vierumäki, Salpausselkä Geopark provides information on the origins of the area following the Ice Age. The best way to discover the traces of the Ice Age is to follow the Lemmenharju nature trail!
Vierumäki is known not only as a hub for education and top sports but also as a holiday destination for those who like to be physically active. For us to be able to meet the changing demands and continue to grow, our development must be sustainable. This kind of development can be achieved by following the Sustainable Travel Finland programme and its Sustainable Travel Finland label developed by Visit Finland for companies and regions focusing on tourism.
In spring 2020, we launched a sustainable tourism programme with the aim of obtaining a STF certificate in the course of 2022.
