Q&A Camps and tournaments
We have collected answers to the most frequently asked questions about camps and other activities in our area.
Q&A Camps
-
Campers must fill out the additional information form. The form will be opened during April for the summer camps. Campers will receive information about the form by e-mail.
We will ask for very important information. One of the questions is the request for a roommate, which we try to fulfill as much as possible. You often come to the camp with a friend, but sometimes alone. Nobody sleeps alone with us, children are usually in rooms with 2-3 people, depending on the type of accommodation. -
How to report special diets?
Campers must fill out the additional information form, which can be found on the camp's website, before the start of the camp. Our restaurant always offer lactose-free and vegetarian options. Please inform your special diets, when filling the information form.
Does the camp include snacks?
If the snacks are marked in the program, are the snacks part of the camp content. However, we always recommend to bring your own snacks, which do not necessarily need to be refrigerated. Good food is always the most important thing on a trip! You can also bring some pocket money with you. We have a couple of cafes, where you can buy snacks. -
Supervisors are always involved in the activities at our children's and youth camps. Campers can also contact the supervisors by phone. Camp supervisors eat with the campers, fluff the pillows in the evenings and wake the campers up for a new day.
-
The supervisors have a camp phone, and the number we share at the camp opening information. At our camps, the campers have a lot going on and in a good mood, so there is not much time to be on the phone. We will contact the guardians if something unusual happens at the camp.
-
What should you bring to the camp?
The camps' information letter provides more information about the camper's equipment. The camp's information letter can be found on the camp's own website.
All camps include indoor and outdoor sports clothes, incl. indoor and outdoor shoes and rain gear, even though little rain doesn't hurt us in Vierumäki. It's good to always have a drinking bottle with you and a small backpack for transporting equipment. In addition, you should pack your own hygiene equipment and skin lotion. Insecticide and sunscreen are necessary in the summer. You should be prepared with a hat for sunny days. Oh yes, and those swimming suite, you can't go on a trip without a swimming suite!
Do you need to bring your own sheets and towel to the camp?
All of our accommodations include bed linen and a towel. What kind of first aid supplies do you need to take with you?
Always pack your own prescription drugs and, if necessary, their instructions. In addition, you could take painkiller's and if necessary allergy medicine. There are first aid supplies in the area, but we cannot give medicines other than the child's/youth's own. You can also take your own thermometer. -
In the camp's information letter, you will find instructions for arriving and gathering for the opening info. The camp information letter can be found on each camp's own website.
The camps always start with an opening info, where parents are very welcome to hear more about the camp and to meet the entire camp staff. -
Of course, parents are allowed to stay at Vierumäki during the entire camp. We have accommodation offers during children's camps. You can often find information about them in the information letter or ask more at sales@vierumaki.fi
Parents can also visit the camp and follow the activities. If the camper goes out of the camp area with the parents, the supervisor must be informed of this. If younger campers would like to spend the night with a parent instead of camp accommodation, the supervisor must be informed of this. -
Campers must have their own insurance during the camp. We have first aid trained supervisors in the area. We will notify campers guardians for example of minor sprains or ankle sprains. Further actions are decided together with the guardians.
If necessary, we will take the child/youth to the nearest emergency station. Primarily, we use the nearby first aid emergency stations, which are located in Heinola and Lahti. If you want to use a private doctor, you must take care of these practical matters. We always act in accordance with first aid instructions. In emergency situations operating instructions are requested from 112 emergency center.
