Our environmental responsibility is based on the values defined in our strategy, which we strive to implement to the best of our ability in our everyday operations.
Being located in a pivotal groundwater area, we are obliged to protect our environment, which is why we want to be open about the work we do to promote our environmental responsibility. Our responsibility work is guided by our environmental promises, which you can read about by clicking on the link below.
We are constantly developing our responsibility. Our next goal is EcoCompass - an environmental certificate, the foundation of which we are currently building.
We base our work on honesty, transparency, open dialogue and continuous competence development. We adhere to set rules, and it is our joint responsibility to comply with ethical principles.
We at the Sports Institute meet students, vacationers, corporate customers and top athletes every day and strive to guarantee the best possible experience of Vierumäki’s services. Safety, accessibility, anti-doping work and our influence at the local and societal level create a framework for our actions and objectives for our development.
Our policies are based on international and national agreements such as the UN Declaration of Human Rights, ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights in Working Life, UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the ethical programmes and guidelines included in the Olympic Charter of the IOC and the Finnish Olympic Committee's Plan for Equality and Equal Opportunity. Our environmental responsibility is guided by the EcoCompass environmental management system.
Doping control is the first and only area of ethical work in sports for which a worldwide code has been approved, the compliance of which is monitored by the sport itself.
Everyone has the right to report if they suspect a doping, competition manipulation or grandstand safety violation or other ethical violation in sports. Also in Vierumäki. The notification links are open to everyone and we hope everyone's contribution to this important work.
